| Ajax Queens squad for 2017 /18 season |
Ajax Queens Football Club began the year on an impressive note winning the Entebbe Holiday Cup in fascinating style.
The Football Queens edged St.Catherine's in the final played on Sunday at St.Joseph's Technical Institute Kisubi to emerge champions for the second year in a row.
Normal time ended goalless but the Bulenga based side managed to win the penalty shootout contest 5-4.
Moreen Afoyo,Phiona Nabumba, Bridget Nabisaalu,Joan Nassali and Annet Namwenge converted their kicks from the spot for Ajax Queens while former player Shadia Nankya fired her effort wide for St Catherine.
The tournament that began on Thursday saw Ajax Queens finish unbeaten and not conceding any goal in the three games played.
The Michael Natima coached side first drew goalless against St.Catherine in the first game before defeating Taggy High School 2-0 courtesy of Afoyo's brace.
On top of the trophy and medals, the team also was rewarded with a new set of jersey and a ball.
Ajax Queens FC will now set sights on the Fufa Women Elite League which resumes next month as the team seeks to make the playoffs.
