Ajax Queens Football Club gave a good account of themselves as they put up a scintillating performance to defeat Gafford Ladies in the FUFA Women Elite league.
In the game played on Sunday at Kanyanya playground, a perfect display saw the football queens earn a comfortable 2-0 win.
Midfielder Maureen Afoyo who was playing her first game this season heaped praise on the teammates for playing as a unit and showing resilience.
" I am delighted for the performance today, it was great commitment from everyone on the team and we worked together to make sure we win," she asserted before adding,
" We played as a unit right from onset to the final whistle and this helped us to get all three points," Afoyo added.
Afoyo had a brilliant performance and got onto the score sheet scoring Ajax Queens second goal of the game, moments after Bridget Nabisaalu had struck from a free kick.
Asked about her individual display, the robust midfielder heaped the praise on the coaching staff for believing in her.
" Credit goes to the coaches, I trained just for one day before the game but they had the belief in me and gave me the opportunity to play," said Afoyo who is also a senior four student at Mukono High School.
This was the first time that Ajax Queens was defeating Gafford Ladies with the previous four engagements ending in draws.
Ajax Queens are now second in Victoria group on seven points in three games and yet to concede.
